Donating - and power to you to get this done. I was at a meetup with an author who'd traditionally published their first book and had NYT reviews, bookstore readings ,etc etc - but who's decided to self-publish the second. That author told us that, even with an agent and publisher, the work around doing publicity, socials, organising signings and readings was all still on the author's back. They told us, bewildered, that they couldn't even understand what value the agent and publisher had been. So yeah, bring this baby into the world. And - nerd alert!- I used to teach sex/gender/sexuality at Uni in UK, and as I read your words I felt the book 'Beautiful Bottom, Beautiful Shame: Where “Black” Meets “Queer” https://g.co/kgs/Lif1cXN coming to mind. We need to hear Black queer voices from the South of the USA. Let's hear this!

Hi Caroline! Thank you so much for this message! It's affirming to know even a bestselling author is noticing the same sort of realities in publishing as I am. Also yesss, adding "Beautiful Bottom, Beautiful Shame" to my reading list. I'm $blkpansy on CashApp, and jasper-joyner on Venmo. The campaign is closed but I'm still raising funds for several aspects of my book release so thank you for wanting to donate!!

I just donated to your campaign. So excited to read it! I really loved the intro. As someone who is contemplating my own name change (albeit for reasons not related to gender expression), it was very affirming and encouraging.

First off I really appreciate the support, thank you! That’s dope that the intro resonates 💜Sometimes we need liberation from a name, regardless of the reason so I feel you! Sending you good vibes for wherever you land on that

Pleasure to meet you Jasper! was born in the north, but this screams baked in the south(am I right?). I remember when my girlfriend at the time, now my wife ever said the words “Mad as all get out,” I did a double take.

Great to meet you too, Marc! Hahah, that's definitely right, deep south over here. Grew up hearing "mad as all get out" so much it's been ingrained in my brain, hahhah.
