Publisher Weekly’s BookLife named my book one of the BEST OF 2024! SHOOK.
Separately, I was named Headliner 901’s Trans Person of the Year?! Memphis, mane. I love my community and our commitment to constantly be in each other’s corners. Cheering, loving, and advocating for each other.
I’m grateful. Beyond grateful; I am overwhelmed and I hope that my overwhelming gratitude flows right back into my city. For Memphis to be a part of Tennessee—a state with laws and leaders so antithetical to our people, and that love—is wild. But we got each other, so we ‘gone be alright.
This four-year project was a labor of love and admittedly has consumed much of my time since its inception. I am now allowing myself some rest and rejuvenation before jumping into my next major project. What does that look like, you ask?
Well. Sitting. Staring at the wall. Watching my ‘lil shows, reading books that have absolutely nothing to do with research, and exploring Substack again! Y’all, when I tell you my ‘saved’ folder on this app is longer than a CVS receipt?!
